Obituary for Bruce Lafayette Crosland

Bruce Lafayette Crosland,78, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on Wednesday, February 8 2017. Bruce was born May 13, 1938 in Rockingham, North Carolina. He moved to New York City in the late 1950s where he became a lifelong resident of the upper West Side of Manhattan. He worked for Beth Israel Hospital for over 35 years as a social worker for people with mental illness, drug and alcohol abuse. In his retirement he was still very much a counselor to people always listening to what was on the minds of others. For the last 15 years of his retirement he became very involved in the amateur pool leagues. He played in the APA and NAPL, which provided a very social and active life.

Bruce is survived by two daughters Christy Mamie Hawkins Crosland and Theresa Locke (Norman), grandson Gregg Washington, granddaughter Kimara Locke and great-granddaughter Lillian Washington.

The memorial service will be held at the Redden's Funeral Home 325 W. 14th Street (between 8th & 9th Ave) on March 25th 2017 from 1pm to 3pm.
