The lighting of a Memorial Candle not only provides a gesture of sympathy and support to the immediate family during their time of need but also provides the gift of extending the Book of Memories for future generations.
When Marian wanted an overnight companion when she was a resident in hospital setting, I volunteered. I had never spoken to her before but knew her as a dancer at Xavier.
That night I listened to her ongoing cough and witnessed her determination and courage and will to live. This was a unique experience for me and I'm sure for Marian. She leaves us with the memory of one who loved life and wanted very much to be part of it. I'm sure she now continues her zest for all that is beautiful and enriching.
I pray to her for all of us to continue her zest for life.
