Obituary for Marilyn C. Hemery

Hemery, Marilyn C. of New York City, on November 5, 2017. She was the beloved wife of the late Maurice Hemery. Sister of the late Richard and Alexander Mihalkovitz Survived by Sisters in law of Bayville, NJ and Ruth of Highland, CA. Marilyn is the aunt of Kathleen (Ray) Manuwald of Bayville, NJ, Richard (Judy) Mihalkovitz of Ocean Gate, NJ, Thomas (Beth) Mihalkovitz of Toms River, NJ Eileen Poza of Bayville, NJ, Marlene Seymour of Bayville, NJ and the late Alexander David Mihalkovitz and Richard William Mihalkovitz, Susan (Mark) Sanford of La Mirada, CA, Janet (Frank) Mansouri of Bristol, ME, Alexander Edward, Jr. (Lorena) of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, Diane (Jeff) Reves of Murfreesboro, TN, and Kirk Mihalkovitz of Rancho Cucamonga, CA. She was dear Godmother to Colleen Lang and Cathleen Hrynkiewicz.

Marilyn was a devout catholic who loved God and her church above all. Second to her faith, Marilyn’s greatest love was her husband Maurice Hemery, a prominent French restauranteur and chef. For decades, Maurice and Marilyn owned and managed the critically acclaimed French restaurant, Le Vert Galant at 109 W. 46th St. in Manhattan. When not serving up superb French cuisine to a packed restaurant, Maurice and Marilyn vacationed in France and spent quality time with the Hemery family. Ahead of her time, Marilyn was a self-made entrepreneur and enterprising woman. She spent the past thirty years invested in and representing prominent US based health and nutrition companies.

Marilyn’s interests included spending time with her family, watching football on Sundays, following her beloved NY Yankees, civic activism and discussing US politics and world affairs. She was a phenomenal bowler and played in a league in Elizabeth, NJ where she was the top scorer and league individual champion, more than once.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Marilyn on Friday, November 17, 2017 at St. Malachy’s Church, 239 w. 49th St. NYC. Interment will follow at St. Gertrude’s Cemetery, Colonia, NJ.
