Nelson “Nelcito” Isaias Vallejo Bravo (10Mar1933 - 24July2018)

Let the world know a great and beloved man has departed this life. May all remember he actively improved this world during his time upon it.

On the evening of 24July2018, Nelson “Nelcito” Isaias Vallejo Bravo passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family and loved ones, after a brief illness.

He will be remembered as a: kind, gentle, giving and lighthearted; husband, father, and friend. Fortunate are the many lives that have been touched by Nelson.

Born 10Mar1933 in Rio Bamba, Ecuador to Miguel Vallejo and Tomasa Maclovia Bravo, he was a busy young man: swimming, bicycle-racing and playing sports in Ecuador. He later graduated from El Colegio Salesiano in Rio Bamba.

After courting and falling in love with Blanca Lila Fon Fay, they wed on 23Jan1956 in Guayaquil, Ecuador. Together they raised their three children: Ruth Lila, Nelson Anibal and Wilson Omar.

Nelson immigrated to the United States in 1969 to New York. First he worked as an elevator attendant, then accepted a superintendent position with Williams Company. He later sought a part time job as a superintendent at a residential building. He bought the same building in 1975, and made it his own business and home. Nelson was a true American success story.

He was: mechanically inclined, loved tools, enjoyed woodworking, nature and dining well. He had a passion for planting and cultivating the banana trees found in Ecuador. He shared his success and enthusiasm for life by opening his home to new Ecuadorian arrivals and helping them establish. He was a livelong member of Club Nacional de Milagros in Milagros, Ecuador.

Nelson is preceded by his parents, and siblings: Jamie, Enma, Mirian, Marieta, Carlota and Sofia. He is survived by his wife, children and two grandchildren: Jason Moro Vallejo, Cloe Moro Vallejo.

All who loved Nelson are invited to mark his passing and celebrate his life. A viewing will be held 1:00-5:00pm 29July2018 at Redden's Funeral Home, 325 West 14th St., New York, NY. A funeral mass will be held 30July2018 10:00AM, Santiuario de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe En San Bernardo, 328 W. 14th St., New York, NY. His ashes will be interred at Parque De La Paz, Via Samborondón, Ecuador.
