Obituary for John Damon Yasevich
John Damon Yasevich passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2019. He was 50 years old. Damon was born on March 18, 1969 in Midwest City, Oklahoma and grew up in Conway, Arkansas. After graduation from High School, he moved New York City where he made his home. He attended Hunter College. He worked in many areas of computer/internet technology. Also, Damon was bilingual in French and English and loved linguistics, was a gourmet cook and fabulous pastry chef, and was a great supporter of LGBTQ+ rights, environmental causes, and animal rights issues. Damon had a passion for travel and particularly treasured his trips to Spain, Egypt, and Kenya with his aunt Judith. He made many annual trips to Maine with dear friends. He was known for his great sense of humor at work and among his friends. He is survived by his mother, Anita Llewelyn Yasevich, and sister, Jennifer Ellen Tucker, both of Shongaloo, Louisiana, his maternal aunt, Judith S Anthony, of San Antonio, Texas, and his cat Trixie. Damon wished to be cremated.
We are having a Celebration and Memorial for Damon on March 21st at Elmo Lounge in NYC. This is 3 days after what would have been his 51st birthday! Since he was sick around his 50th, I like to think of this as a delayed 50th birthday celebration.
