Obituary for Peter Leekin

Peter Leekin of New York City, age 91, passed away on May 26, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. Peter was pre-deceased by his beloved wife, Roslyn and is survived by his 5 children: Annette Singh-Rivera, Kimoy Stack (Ken), Kimlin Prendergass (Fred), Anthony Lee Kin (Shirley), Joseph Leekin (Carey), 9 grand-children and 5 great grand-children. Peter is also survived by many beloved siblings and several nieces and nephews.

Peter was born in Trinidad, W.I. and came to New York City in 1964. Having very little resources but an abundance of determination and innovation, he and Roslyn worked tirelessly at the several businesses they owned throughout the years to provide for their 5 children while raising them in a home filled with love and laughter. Having grown up in China during the war and losing his parents at a young age, Peter placed particular value on family life. Through his hard work and generosity he helped pave the way for many in his extended family to come to the U.S and build a better life as he and Roslyn had done. He loved cooking for the family and could make the simplest dish taste spectacular. He enjoyed family vacations at Schroon Lake where he loved fishing, competitive matches of Trivial Pursuit and Pictionary and (somehow always!) getting the better of his kids at checkers and gin rummy.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks and gratitude to the caring and dedicated home attendants from Royal Care Agency as well as the assistance from Visiting Nurse Service of NY.
