Obituary for John Michael Kiernan

John Michael Kiernan (JACK) was born on September 8,1929 and raised on the west side of Manhattan, in what is affectionately known as Hell’s Kitchen. He passed away at his Boca Raton, Florida home, on May 2, 2023.

Jack leaves behind his four sons, Kevin (Annie), John, Thomas (Michele), and Julien, his grandchildren, and sisters: Agnes Larson and Eileen Cafarella and many nieces, nephews and extended family, as well as many dear Industry friends. Jack is predeceased by his parents Jack and Agnes (Devita) Kiernan and his sister Mary Riley.

Jack had very long and successful career in the Music Industry, working at or collaborating with, RCA, Pologram, Sony, and JVC, to name a few. During this time he was instrumental in driving and supporting the evolution of the industry, from radio and records, to CD’s to digitalization. He acquired lifelong friendships during his many years in the business. His affinity for music and mentorship of others, continued into his retirement, as did his passion for scuba diving in many warm, adventurous, sunny places.
He was a great conversationalist and loved to share stories about his family, his life in Boca, and of days gone by. He will be sorely missed.

A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2023 from 10:00am to 11:30am at Reddens Funeral Home 325 W 14th St., New York, NY, followed by a 1:00pm mass at St. Michael’s Church, 424 W. 34th St., NYC. During his youth, Jack attended St Michael’s school, and he and his family were St Michael’s parishioners.
