In Loving Memory of Katherine "Kay" Marie Cosgrove Frost and Charles "Charlie" Francis Frost

It's with great sadness and yet deep gratitude for lives well-lived that we announce the passing of Charles "Charlie" Francis Frost and Katherine "Kay" Marie Cosgrove Frost, beloved husband and wife, who passed away earlier this year within weeks of one another after more than 61 years of marriage. They were as close as a two people can be, sharing the same values, interests, and a deep devotion to one another's happiness. They loved a good story, and Charlie had plenty of them, and they loved to share a good laugh. They were truly trusted best friends, and partners with an unbreakable bond.

Charlie was born on May 16, 1930, in Ridgewood, New Jersey, to William Pepperrell Frost, Sr., and Laura Margaret McKenna Frost. He grew up in Ridgewood, sharing adventures with his older brother Bill Jr., often enjoying long visits with grandparents and extended family in New England. He graduated from Ridgewood High School and The College of The Holy Cross (Class of 1952) in Worcester, Massachusetts before serving in the army during the Korean War. After his military service he worked in advertising on New York City's Madison Avenue. He enjoyed great success supervising ad campaigns for many products, but most notably as an automotive marketing specialist. He worked with Volkswagen, Peugeot, Chevrolet, Pontiac, Cadillac, and was a driving force behind the introduction of Mercedes-Benz to the U.S. market during his time at Ogilvy and Mather. Charlie is the original "C.F. Frost" whose name is pictured on the credit cards in American Express ads. He was a serial entrepreneur, owning several businesses and, as president of his own consulting firm, Frost and Associates, he helped many clients start their own businesses. He served on the board of directors of several charities in New York and was very close to his Uncle Horace for whom The Father McKenna Center in Washington, D.C. is named.

Kay was born August 26, 1935, in Sag Harbor, New York, to John Joseph Cosgrove and Adele Marie Ficorelli Cosgrove. The eldest child, she grew up in Sag Harbor with sisters Cecelia and Dolores, and brother Joseph. After graduating from Our Lady of Sacred Heart High School, she attended NYU, the New School for Social Research, and took countless courses during her employment with American Management Association. She was a licensed realtor and worked with dozens of clients of her company, Kay's Typing Service. She was also featured in American Express ad campaigns as "Kathryn M. Frost" alongside Charlie's "C.F. Frost". Kay was a caring member of her beloved hometown and wrote letters to the editor of the Sag Harbor Express about town budgets, planning board issues, and water resources. She was most serene while on the water and she and Charlie often took their boat out to Sag Harbor Bay so they could swim in the cove they referred to as "Kay's Place".

After being introduced by a mutual friend in the city, they were married December 5, 1964, at The Plaza. They soon found the home they'd share for the rest of their lives at the Rembrandt Building at 31 Jane Street in Manhattan's West Village. They loved their apartment, their neighbors, and their quiet neighborhood where everyone looked out for each other. A few years later they purchased a vacation home in Sag Harbor's village of North Haven where they hosted legendary parties with Kay's childhood friends, family, colleagues and loved ones. They also joined the Sag Harbor Yacht Club where Charlie was on the club's board of directors for 25 years and served several terms as the Commodore. He and Kay attended many functions at the club and helped initiate the now annual Commodore's Ball. They traveled extensively and regularly made trips to see family in Colorado and New England.

Their partnership was one of a kind. They made friends wherever they went and thoroughly enjoyed life. They were both bright and constantly learning and adding value to the world around them. Charity was something they both learned at a young age, and they actively supported several charities throughout their lives. Charlie, a cockeyed optimist and storyteller, was always ready to share a favorite tale, and many people heard the story of how he and Kay met, or the day they married. They were each other's best friend. They'll both be remembered not only for their professional accomplishments and community involvement, but more importantly for the love and devotion that defined their partnership, and the laughter they joyfully shared. They leave behind a circle of family, friends, and colleagues who were touched by their generosity, kindness, and humor. They will be greatly missed. Their legacy lives on in the stories, traditions, and love they cultivated throughout their lives. They are together again, forever united, as they were in life.

Burial services will be held at a later date at North Village Cemetery, Lancaster, Massachusetts and other celebrations of life will be arranged at a future date.
