In Loving Memory of Henry Ruiz Jr. ("Lil Henry")

Henry Ruiz Jr., affectionately known to family and friends as "Lil Henry," was born on August 28, 1989, to Linda Gracia and Henry Ruiz Sr. He passed away suddenly on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at 9:11 a.m. at Harlem Hospital in New York City.

Henry was an only child, but he was never alone. He was the beloved grandson of Edwin and Judith Gracia, and Carmen and Julio Ruiz Sr. From the moment he entered this world, he was surrounded by the love of a large and devoted family.

As a child, Henry was full of energy, curiosity, and adventure. Though small in stature, he was mighty in spirit. He was always climbing, exploring, jumping, and creating adventures wherever he went. Fearless and full of life, Henry was what many would call a live wire. His playful nature and infectious personality brought joy to everyone who knew him.

Henry grew up on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, surrounded by a large extended family and countless cousins. He was the cherished nephew of six aunts and five uncles between both sides of his family. Everyone in the neighborhood knew Lil Henry, and he was adored by all who crossed his path.

As a young man, Henry developed a love for sports, especially basketball, and was a dedicated New York Knicks fan. He also enjoyed video games and spent many hours immersed in what family jokingly referred to as his "extreme hobby." Whether watching basketball or playing games with friends and family, Henry found joy in the things he loved.

After graduating from Bayard Rustin High School Henry worked alongside his father as a plumber's assistant, learning the value of hard work and dedication. He later continued building his career through maintenance work with the Board of Education.

Although Henry was an only child, he shared an extraordinary bond with several of his cousins, who became his bonus brothers and sisters. Together they grew up side by side, creating lifelong memories and an unbreakable family connection.

Above all else, Henry was a proud and devoted father. As a young adult, he relocated to the Bronx, where he raised and cared for his three beloved children. Being their father was one of the greatest joys of his life, and he remained active and present in their lives.

Henry was often reserved, but he possessed a unique sense of humor that could light up a room. Even when he wasn't the loudest person in the crowd, he always found a way to make people laugh. Whether through an unexpected comment, a funny expression, or one of his spontaneous moments, he brought smiles to those around him.

With broken hearts, we mourn the loss of Henry and the profound void his passing leaves behind. He is survived by his three cherished children, Julian Daniel Ruiz, Layla Marie Ruiz, and Harley Rae Ruiz; his loving parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless family members and friends who loved him dearly.

Henry's life was filled with love, laughter, family, and unforgettable memories. Though his time with us was far too short, the impact he made on those who knew and loved him will never be forgotten.

He was a beautiful soul, and his memory will live on forever in our hearts.
